Fragrance Oils and Why They Make the Best Scented Candles

Buying scented oil can be seen as an easy process. Simply visit a local art store or go online, buy a scent of your choice, and make a scented candle. However, like most things in life, buying quality oil that will work for your particular project is not so easy. The good news is that, with a little knowledge and understanding of candle oil scent, it can be a simple process.

Know the Type of Candle Oil You Need

Start with Sample Size

If you are using a scent that you have never used before, consider starting with a small sample size to make sure it is the scent you want and make it into the wax you are using. That is not ready for testing before making a major financial commitment. This also allows you to check and fragrance oils for candle making of the finished candle to make sure it has the desired scent you want and matches the definition of the scent oil.

Find Out How Much You Need

Once you have found the scented candle oil you are happy with, the next step is to decide how much you will need for that particular scent. Many oils have a recommended use of 1 oz. per pound of wax (or 6.25% perfume load). However, you can add more or less to your desired scent. To find out how much you will need, estimate the volume of the containers you will use. Next, calculate the percentage of total volume required to be the best fragrance oils. Please note that candle fragrance oil is usually sold by weight, not by volume. Different scents may be filled at different levels in the bottle.

Note the Trend of Perfume Types

Many perfumed oils can be marketed as ‘cut’ or ‘manufacturer’ levels. If you come across some that are recommended in this way, do not assume that they are of the highest quality there is no officially recognized grading scale for the best fragrance oils. You want to choose a supplier with the highest quality and best performance. As mentioned above, consider purchasing small sample sizes to start with before making a large investment with a particular supplier.

Choose Quality Candle Fragrance Oil

Not all candle scents are made the same and can vary greatly in cost. Many low-cost oils are produced with large amounts of chemicals that reduce odor strength. This means that it requires fragrance oils for candle making more aromatic oil to produce a scented candle and can end up being more expensive to produce the same results than solid candle oil. This can also lead to undesirable fever symptoms as excessive supplementation can lead to increased lead exposure and smoking. When deciding which one is best for your project, be sure to look at the quality you choose and not just base your decision on the price. Alternatively, you may get what you pay for.
